- Implemented CMS--an information management tool for controlling revisions, file access,
and automatic process routing for work/change requests.
- Implemented a batch-loader tool written in C and SQL to load thousands of autocad files
into the CMS/Oracle database. Configured and administered SunOS 4.3 server; installed all
client PC workstations with DOS 6.2/Windows 3.11/FTP 2.3/PC-Xware 1.1 to access the
SunOS-based CMS.
- Responsible for AIX system administration and strategic implementation of Novell 4.0,
Lan Workplace , and Novell NFS.
- Designed and implemented building expansion network layout including 10baseT cable drops
to all offices, Cisco routers, fiber optic backbone, and ETSMIMS hubs.

- Ported NFS network to AFS, Configured clients and servers with cache, acl permissions,
user environments, etc.
- Served as a backup network AIX administrator assisting in upgrading 35 servers and 90
clients from AIX 3.2.3 to 3.2.4 and then to 3.2.5. Relied primarily on Kron scripts to
execute SMIT commands and continuously update user environments.
- Performed C tool development concentrating primarily on Infocrafter softcopy cd-rom
builds and ORACLE database loads/performance admin. Developed softcopy front end build
tools using C, AIX Korn shell, and SGML, Interleaf, Frame and Perl filters.
- Redesigned Oracles database to support new processes; ported Oracle from version 6
to 7, Forms, menu, and reportwriter.
- Extensive FORMS, C, embedded SQL development and performance tuning and AIX Korn shell
batch updates/reports.
1990-1992
- Ported network from PC RTs running DS to NFS-TCP/IP on the RS/6000
- Ported library access control tool to NFS using TCP/IP sockets -vs- DS ipc-Tables (in C)
- Responsible for 25 servers/75 user AIX/Xwindows operating environments including
installations, configurations, and X-motif tool needs
- Ported database from INGRESS to ORACLE and redesigned entire database schemas,
forms, reports based on new business process for building books and softcopy cd-rom
databases.
1988-1990
- Designed, configured and installed a 10 server/60 user PC RT token ring network running
TCP/IP and IBMs Distributed Services(DS). Responsible for all backup, printer, cron,
device configurations, RT to VM communications, network administration, user add-hoc
support and trouble shooting
- Developed an Interleaf source document access control system to control access to
articles involving distributed services interprocess communications allowing Get & Put
operations on each document based on INGRESS entered permissions (written in C and AIX
shell scripts).
- Designed, programmed, implemented, and maintained an INGRESS-database for tracking
articles written in Interleaf for scheduling, controlling permissions, and assigning
articles to a softcopy database
- Developed Interleaf filters and tools to assist in taking Interleaf source documents and
converting them to Hypertext softcopy cd-rom on-line databases
